Try something new for spring: discover one of our nutrition superstars, the quirky but versatile tomato juice ringer, scarlets. Find out why scarlets deserves a place in your next box, with these delicious recipe ideas.
I say tomato, you say tomato
As long as we’re talking about it...you may not realise that the tomato is a total nutrient powerhouse, as well as a tangy flavor-bomb. That fiery scarlet color comes from lycopene, a powerful antioxidant that works to fight free radicals - compounds that occur naturally in our bodies, causing cell damage and skin aging. It may also reduce the risk of cancer and promote heart health, and some research suggests it may even protect your skin from UV damage.
In kencko scarlets, ripe tomatoes are paired with cayenne pepper for a classic Virgin Mary vibe. The active ingredient capsaicin doesn’t just make cayenne pepper spicy, it may also help support weight management by revving up your metabolism and regulating your appetite. We also add some apple, banana and dates for a flavor that’s veggie-forward but still nicely balanced.
This unique smoothie is also one of our most versatile flavors, leaning more sweet or savory depending on how you serve it. For instance, did you know that you can stir it into hot water to make a tasty base for soups and sauces? Try these three great recipe suggestions with your next scarlets refill.

Bring that Sunday brunch mood into the workweek, like kencko member Cyndi: “Think Bloody Mary with a kick of spice. Yes, I’m drinking tomatoes and spinach. Sure, I’m getting protein with these chia seeds. Don’t tell my brain that thinks I’m being slightly naughty on a work day morning.”
